Amerimax Vinyl Windows and Doors (a division of Amerimax Building Products) proudly honored USMC Staff Sergeant John Jones for his service and sacrifice while serving in Iraq. With the national non-profit organization, Homes for Our Troops, Amerimax participated in constructing a new home for SSgt Jones and his family in Fort Collins, Colorado.
SSgt John P. Jones was serving in Iraq with the 1st Battalion/ 7th Marines when he was severely injured on January 3, 2005. John was in the 7th vehicle of a 35-vehicle convoy when it hit a double-stacked anti-tank mine. The mine that exploded under his hummer launched him 25 feet through the air through the top of the vehicle. For the past few years, John has been living in a rented house with his wife Amber and their three children. With the help of donated labor and building materials, Homes For Our Troops built them a home that will accommodate his needs and enable him and his family to concentrate on recovery and their future.
Homes for our Troops, a non-profit organization founded in 2004, is strongly committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries. It is their charge and honor to assist severely injured servicemen and servicewomen and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials, and professional labor. They also coordinate the process of building a home that provides freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently. The homes provided by Homes for Our Troops are given at no cost to the veterans served.
Amerimax Vinyl Windows and Doors is currently participating in honoring another United States Armed Forces Veteran in Colorado, which is scheduled to be completed soon.
